Cast Nickel Valves


  • Specification A/SA351 specifically addresses castings for producing various pressure containing parts, including valves. Specifications A743, A744 and A/SA494 do not specifically address valves. They apply to all cast products intended for use in a corrosive environment.
  • Each of the four specifications have ordering information guidelines as a part of the specification.
    These include, but are not limited to the following:

    A/SA351:
    1) Description by pattern number or a drawing with dimensional tolerances.
    2) Grade of material.
    3) Acceptance of any options offered in the specification.
    4) Any supplementary requirements desired.
    5) Standards of acceptance.

    A743:
    1) Description by pattern number or drawing.
    2) Grade of material.
    3) Heat treatment.
    4) Acceptance of any options offered in the specification.
    5) Use of the investment casting process.
    6) Any supplementary requirements desired.
    7) Acceptance standards.

    A744:
    1) Identify wetted surface(s).
    2) Description by pattern number or drawing.
    3) Grade of material.
    4) Heat treatment.
    5) Acceptance of any options offered in the specification.
    6) Use of the investment casting process.
    7) Any supplementary requirements desired.
    8) Acceptance standards.

    A/SA494:
    1) Quantity.
    2) Material grade and heat treatment class.
    3) Heat treat condition.
    4) Any purchaser repair welding requirements.
    5) Purchaser source inspection requirements, if any.
    6) Marking of heat numbers on individual castings. If desired, they shall be as agreed upon by the manufacturer and purchaser.
    7) Any supplementary requirements desired.
    8) Acceptance standards.
